Real Men Make Beer Outside
I have been brewing my own beer for a while now. I have been using my families kitchen and they have complained a lot about the smell. I think it is a great smell, kind of like oats or grains, something you might feed a horse. Well I tried brewing outside in a garage on a camping stove but that took too long. I decided to make a small in ground fire in a woods and brew beer like people used to make moonshine. It also took a long time, but was a pretty cool process. Hopefully the beer comes out good.

Almost Famous
When I was in high school I started working on classic cars and getting help from a guy who lived around the block. Since then we have became great friends and our paths in life are very similar. He was a great photographer for many years and as he said many times he was almost famous, shooting ad campaigns with huge celebrities for major companies. Besides the advice and help with cars he also taught me a lot about photography. Many shots on my blog and in my portfolio were made using equipment he has given me. Now retired he constantly works on his cars and his house. So here is a shot of him in front of his house using my new equipment (except for a few of his light stands and clamps).

Row row row your boat
The weather is starting to get nice out and it is time to start going outside. The river is the place for me and is where I spend the majority of my time. i went out today with a friend in my little row boat from the 50's that I restored with my little engine from the 60's that I rebuilt twice. I would love to figure out some kind of great project to do along the river, maybe something with the fishermen when it gets warmer.

Retouch Video
Here is a video of me retouching one of the photos I took in Carlisle at the car show last year. Thought it was kind of cool and used it for a resume.

Rain rain go away
It has been raining a lot recently. I decided to brush up on my photoshop skills and start going through some new tutorials. I am going to make a more regular habit of spending several hours a week going through new tutorials and learning new tricks. I decided to go to flickr's interesting photos of the past 7 days and see which ones I could combine. It isn't perfect but it's a start. Here is a picture of the flickr page and a picture of 4 of the images combined. The window might come out, or at least get redone.

Too cold for people
It is still a little cold out and there are no people outside to photograph right now. I decided against photographing the newsstands. I did get film permits and everything needed to do so, but the vendors themselves don't want to be photographed for one reason or another so I will respect that. In my town there are a lot of parks, and most of them have underground bunkers used for storage. I think they are really interesting so until I come up with a great project with people I am going to try to shoot some of these places. Here are some of the first ones I shot.

News Stand
I decided I wanted to start shooting the people at the news stands in NYC. Unfortunately not one news stand vendor in the city wants to be photographed. After I first asked several and instantly being yelled at and rejected I started trying to sneak photos. Before I could focus they would start yelling or diving down so I could no longer see them. I only managed to get one semi-decent shot but not good enough to print. With the help of a very experienced photographer we came up with the idea of getting a film permit and setting up a tripod right outside of the news stand. That way I can photograph them hiding in their stand, yelling at me, and everything else that might happen.
