Road Trip

So I haven't written anything in a while, been a little busy and a little lazy with the holidays. It was 22 degrees today with a windchill close to 0. I went for some great soup with a friend and decided to take a scenic route back. We stopped at an old swimming hole that is now "off limits" and I thought this would be a great photo to get back into the blog.

Old Shots

So I haven't taken any digital shots recently, but have taken some great 4x5 film shots. I don't have a scanner yet though so I can't share them, I can share a shot from a previous outing. I found some great lights on a major highway that was shut down for construction in October. I walked onto the road and started photographing. The workers were really nice and eventually let me ride around the trucks with them and gave me a hard hat.

Hunt for backgrounds

So I drove around today dropping off christmas cards to everyone. The whole way I searched for good background but didn't see any. When I got home and was all done I saw some really cool light, but not sure if I can use it as a background. I took the shot anyway and only time will tell.

Taking Simba on a Walk

So I took Simba on a walk today. Like normal he was great and listened very well until we turned around and he didn't want to leave. I had to chase him for about an hour in the cold until I could trick him and snatch him up. While I was walking I was on my never ending quest searching for backgrounds that would be good in future photographs. I found one that wasn't too bad. When I stopped to take the picture Simba came and sat next to me and watched.

New Studio

So I have a studio for now. Greg Porteus (captain of Launch 5) gave me unlimited access to the top floor of a building he is almost done "rehabing". He also wants me to find some studio lights and such for him to put and leave in there. I think I am going to look for those right now.

Christmas Card

So Tammy wanted to make a post card for the holidays. After trying to get Sox and Simba to stay still with hats on we finally managed to take a decent photograph. Besides that I shot a roll of 35mm tri-x yesterday for the first time in over a year. Developed and printed in my new dark room.

Junkyard

Yesterday I forgot to write again. I didn't go to sleep until 4:30 am though, I was up all night printing. I photographed some people playing basketball at the rec center and developed and printed. I found out my thermometer is off 10 degrees or so, all my negative are really thin (not much details/information) but I can still print them. At least I know now. I tried to take some shots at the junkyard, but nothing came out worth putting up. I trailered two cars there, the first had no front end at all (no tires/engine/fenders/hood) so I just strapped it down to a tow dolly. The second was easier. Gonna go scan some negatives and find something to shoot and put up today.

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

So I wanted to post something every day, but I haven't written anything since I started it. Yesterday I worked on my project some more. I spent about two hours at the local barber shop. I took one shot when I first got there and waited for more people to show up but no one did, I am going to shoot their again this weekend. Today I was going to class and saw this awesome car in the parking lot. It was an old jaguar, probably from the 60's or 70's.

First Day

So after looking through some of the photographers John Kenney represents I came across Gary Land. I think his blog is great and extremely interesting, for the past month I have been checking it every day to see if he added new content and read through every entry he has made. I think my own blog will be a great way for me to discipline myself and force me to take photos every day and share them with the world. Well world here we go.
