New Lens

So I miss the days of photographing birds in Texas. Unfortunately it isn't 75 out, but there still are some birds around, mostly water fowl. I got a new lens for really cheap. I used to have a great 100-400 Canon L lens, but sold it when I switched to Nikon. I found a 420 - 800 that comes with a 2x extension tube to turn it into a 840 - 1600. It was less than 200 but is just for fun on the weekends so I don't need a professional lens. If I don't blow them up the pictures are alright. At anything over 50% there is no area in focus at all though. But here is one of the first shots I took. This seagull kept slipping on the ice and couldn't land or take off.
